Kane Mathis performs on the Turkish oud, trained in Istanbul under Mutlu Torun and subsequntly spend 5 and a half years of close study with Münir Nurettin Beken in the Turkish classical tradition. Based in New York City, he brings that training into jazz, Middle Eastern classical repertoire, and cross-genre collaboration.
